Protecting my New Nikon D5 Cameras

Price $39.95
I can tell you a few of the downsides of buying a new camera. First of all when it is new there are changes that will be necessary.

One of the changes I had to go through was not having my EasyCover for the Nikon D5 to protect it for a couple of months. I just got mine last week. I bought two for the two cameras. I even made one different than the other so I could know which camera I was shooting with. This helps when I need to know which camera I am shooting with due to a few things. One may be I set up one for video and the other for stills.

Another reason maybe one is set for studio flash and the other available. There are many reasons you may need to know or remember which camera is which.

One of the cameras has the camouflage and the other is black.

The great thing about getting a new camera is all the improvements and EasyCover also made improvements over the Nikon D4 cover.

At first glance it may look very similar, but they did listen to users and found that the Nikon D4 cover made it difficult to see your buttons. When Nikon made the Nikon D4 they improved it by creating backlight inside the buttons so you could turn on a light to see which is which button, but the EasyCover covered them and you could still push them, just you lost this cool enhancement.

Now you can easily see your buttons on the Nikon D5. There are just a few that they kept covered as you can see above.

Here is a link from EasyCover to help you find the store in your country that you can purchase your Nikon D5 cover.

Now for those of you who shoot with a different camera they make many other covers including lens covers. Check out all their covers for cameras here.

This is one of the best investments anyone can make for their camera. I like to describe it as similar to my Otterbox for my Smartphone. It protects the camera.

Now if I can just get Pocketwizard to update the firmware for the Flex TT5 & TT1 for the Nikon D5 I will be thrilled.

EasyCover–The Otterbox for your Nikon D750

My EasyCover for my Nikon D750 came in yesterday. I wrote about buying these earlier for the Nikon D4 camera. [Read More] Most of the pros I know would wish they would make a model that covers the camera name and model.

While many amateurs may want to show off their gear, most pros are trying to do just the opposite.

The basic reason I recommend this to you is the same reason I would recommend you have a Otterbox for your cell phone. The Otterbox promotes itself as surrounding your phone with a cushion of air and inspired by the crumple zone of a car, this case can take a hit and keep your precious phone as good as the day you got it.

The EasyCover comes with 2 x Screen Protectors. I didn't put these on right away and most likely will.

It is selling for $29.95 at B&H. [Link to B&H]

As you can see from the photos you still have access to everything including the ability to move the screen. The Custom-Fit Silicone Material provides a great cushion from minor bumps.

You can still get to the memory cards.

You can also use your microphone, headphone, HDMI and USB access.

You can still get to the battery very easily.

The main difference between this and say an Otterbox is they cannot completely cover the camera due to so many access points. So, some of these are still exposed to dings.

You still have access to your flash as well.

It comes in either Black, Yellow or Camouflage.

easyCover–The Otterbox for your camera

When I bought my Nikon D4 cameras I was looking for a silicon cover like the Otterbox so many people use on their Smart Phones.

I couldn't find them anywhere. Just before I took off for my trip to Honduras I was searching the web again and found the easyCover [http://www.easycover.eu/].

I had invested $12,000 in two Nikon D4 cameras and I really wanted them to last. Taking care of them was very important.

For only $39.95 the easyCover is slim and smooth protects your camera from bumps, scratches, sand and dust. The custom-fit silicone provides a secure grip, and there are two included screen protectors, one hard and one soft, to shield the LCD.

The only downside is while you can still use all your buttons it doesn't label them.  So if your camera is new to you this could take a little getting used to. For me I pretty much can work my Nikon D4 in the dark.

This is my review that I posted at B&H:
Saves Cameras in Fall
I recently was covering a parade in Charleston SC and was on a park bench. As I stepped down I caught my foot and broke it. Fell on my back and shattered my 28-300mm. But both cameras had no scratches. I am sure that without the easyCover on the Nikon D4 cameras there would have been scratches and more damage.
So thrilled with the covers. Wish I had them available when I first bought the cameras.
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
Nikon & Canon

They make this only for the Nikon and Canon cameras. To see if your model is available go here to their list of cameras [http://www.easycover.eu/camera-cases]

While the easyCover doesn't come with a warranty for your camera, I can tell you from my personal experience that for those who have been putting tape all over their cameras to protect them that I believe this is superior to that, because the silicone give you a little bump protection and tape only really helps with scratches.

Pays for itself

When you sell your camera the condition of the camera makes a huge difference in the price you get for the camera.

The price difference that B&H gives between Like New $3120 and Signs of use, but clean $2,995 is $125.  This alone will make this investment into easyCover pay for itself.
